Larry Wilks lives by the philosophy that if you do well and are successful, you should give back to your community and to your profession. He truly leads by example. He has been very involved in the local and state bar associations and believes that such involvement not only has an impact on the judges appointed to the bench, but has an effect on the laws passed by the Tennessee legislature, which affects the local community as a whole. In addition to his active involvement with state and local bar associations, Larry Wilks has made himself available to serve as appointed counsel and believes that representing indigent defendants in criminal cases, such those involving the death penalty, are an important aspect of giving back to the community and the legal profession as well. Larry Wilks has also been instrumental in launching a pilot program of the Tennessee Bar Association called Leadership Law. As Co-chair of this statewide program, Larry Wilks is helping to identify, recruit and train experienced attorneys who are poised to become bar leaders. Through Leadership Law, the TBA aims to serve the public and the legal profession by equipping participants with the vision knowledge and skills necessary to serve as leaders in the profession and the community as a whole.
